LIFE ON BUTTERMILK AND TENTERHOOKS - Moscow, the great nerve centre of the USSR, with its Red Square and Kremlin, its power and its politics, is a focal point of world attention. But for the many millions of Russians living outside its immediate impact, what does life hold? Do the devout still go to church, the robust drink vodka, the holidaymakers go to the Black Sea resorts?
